Growing up playing sports, Kristen had some experience in a weight room, but never enough to feel confident going into a globo gym to work out. After being lazy through college, and starting her career, she wanted to start a routine of making exercise a priority. It started with signing up for a yoga class, and doing the at-home fad programs – P90X and Insanity.
Kristen says: I always knew I wanted to get back to strength training, but didn’t know where to start. I first heard about CrossFit from a coworker, he started telling about his workouts, and how he struggled with a movement called a pistol. I said to him “I think we do something just like that in my yoga class”, and I did pistol in his cubicle. Months later, some friends and I started planning a girls trip to Miami for the Raven/Dolphins game. We all lived in different locations, but we were committed to get in shape for the trip. A few weeks later I went to the CrossFit gym, I don’t even remember my first workout, but I remember a few weeks in doing my first hero workout – 31 Heroes. My partner left halfway through, but I kept pushing, and after that I was hooked. CrossFit is the one hour of my day where I turn off my brain from everything else going on that day, and focus on me and what my body is capable of doing.
Hobbies/Interests: Yoga, traveling, hiking
